Lately, I seem to hear a lot of conspiracy theories whether it comes to 9/11, US Prison Camps, New World Order, Bohemian Grove, or the JFK assassination, etc. As interesting as they may be, I always wonder: what’s the point?
Here’s what I’m getting at. If the United States government is actually carrying out all these horrific, “underground” actions, covering them up so the “American public” won’t find out about them, hasn’t this all-powerful spooky government done a rather poor job of concealing it? Think about it. Why hasn’t the government killed these conspiracy theorists already? You’d think they’d have the power to shut down these websites, destroy conspiracy theory literature and eliminate all traces of what people have “discovered.”
While I do think the JFK assassination was perpetrated by someone other than Lee Harvey Oswald, I just don’t see any real solid foundation for these theories. Besides, if the “evil” government we have is as powerful and as dangerous as these theorists say, there is nothing anyone can do to stop them.
We live in what I believe to be, the best nation in the world. Why else would we have a problem with illegal immigration? People want to take advantage of the freedoms and opportunities that exist in this country. We are far from perfect, however we are arguably still the greatest. But lest I digress…
If our government is as evil as these conspiracy theorists say, then why are they still here? Go to Europe and enjoy socialized sub-par healthcare. Pay taxes that are higher than our own, buy gasoline at $5/gallon or more. Check out Venezuela, Cuba, North Korea, Pakistan, Libya or Iran. Those guys seem to have it together. That’s the alternative.
So I say to all you conspiracy theorists: give up! I did. I’m enjoying all the privileges of an average American citizen. I can vote, speak my mind (unless I offend Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, or the Rutgers Women’s Basketball team), use services provided by the government and take advantage of this lovely capitalist society we have. I in my blissful ignorance will enjoy my life here in America without fear of persecution or tyranny. What will you do?

Amen.

I’m not an evil government, but if I was, I would actually let some of the news leak out a little. That way, people would ask the very same questions your have. If it’s too ridiculous, there’s no way anyone will buy it, right?

Actually I didn’t get to this in the post, but what if these conspiracy theorists are actually FROM the government trying to scare us into believing they are really in control? That seems just as plausible as any of the actual theories. I’m not saying I’m pro-big government, quite the opposite actually. But I just can’t buy into all these theories. I guess I’m just a kool-aid drinking ignorant member of the “American public.” I just think we should elect small government conservatives in the tradition of Ronald Reagan. After all, as the Gipper once said “government is not a solution to our problem, it is the problem.”

Well said. One question though: What the crap is this “kool-aid” stuff I keep hearing about? Is this an inside joke for republicans or something because I just don’t get it. Matt Vaughan is right beside me, and he doesn’t get it either.

I believe it all goes back to the Jim Jones cult mass suicide. Everybody drank this poison kool-aid and died on some Carribbean island I think. Therefore if you’re a kool-aid drinker, you go along with what people tell you and don’t question it.

Got it.

I think you’ve made a justified criticism of the more elaborate theories involving large conspiracies.
I personally think there are good reasons to believe that 9/11 was an inside job. But I don’t think it was done by a conspiracy involving the entire government. More likely it was done by a rogue clique of high-level people.
Killing their critics would be too obvious. It would serve their interests far better to plant disinformation agents within the 9/11 Truth movement, to pollute the body of evidence against them, so that, if they were ever actually caught and tried, they would still get away with it. Some of the more ridiculous “New World Order” talk may serve precisely that purpose.
I do agree with you that some of the “New World Order” talk is ridiculous. But that’s no reason to dismiss all evidence of high-level wrongdoing. For some of the more credible evidence regarding 9/11, see the sites listed on my blog.
