So the left side of the blogosphere has been buzzing about how only Tim Tancredo showed up to a NAACP forum for all GOP Presidential candidates. As a result, liberal bloggers have labeled the GOP as racist and bigoted. And I think to myself, “is that really fair?”
Besides this quasi-gracious invitation, I haven’t seen much support or generosity from the NAACP towards the Republican party. After all, NAACP President Julian Bond recently compared President Bush’s handling of Katrina to lynching, which I think is irrational and illogical to say the least. He has also consistently spouted off Democratic-inspired hate speech against Republicans. Personally, I think the NAACP has lost its way. The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People is now the National Association for the Abolition of Conservative Principles.
But hypothetically, let’s just say that they’re not all that bad. Maybe they are trying to stay true to the goals and ideals they were founded on. Perhaps the rest of GOP Presidential candidates should have shown up to address the issues and concerns of the NAACP.
Is it really all that different than ALL the Democratic Presidential candidates refusing to debate on Fox News? After all, Fox News is simply a news channel. In theory, they have less of a political agenda than the NAACP does. So why can’t the Democrats take the opportunity to debate on such a popular channel? Are they afraid? Could it be perhaps that their reasoning might be exactly the same as the Republicans refusing to show up for the NAACP forum?
Politicians, like most human beings, like to go where they are welcome. So I don’t blame the GOP candidates for not going to the NAACP forum. If the Democrats don’t feel welcome on Fox News, I don’t blame them for not showing up. But am I going to call the Democrats racist, bigoted, anti-conservative, discriminatory or evil? No. Well…. at least not for that reason……
